Obituary for Barbara Kloostra

Barbara “Barb” J. Kloostra (nee Hoppe) passed away on October 25, 2017at Aspirus Wausau Hospital due to complications after an unexpected surgery.  Barb was born on December 6, 1936 to her parents Melvin and Gertrude (Lietzke) Hoppe.  She graduated from Wausau High School in 1954. She then graduated from Northwest Institute of Medical Technology on May 25, 1955 as an X-ray Electrocardiographic Technician.  She married Sylvnus Kelley on May 31, 1955. Barb worked as a fraud investigator for Marathon County Social Services for 26 years before retiring. During retirement Barb worked at Clark gas station part time and enjoyed reading and spending time with her second spouse, Catherine Kloostra. 

Barb is survived by her son, Karl (Terri) Kelley, son-in-law, Jim Ressel, and step-son, Patrick Gaulke. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Josh (Stephanie) Lambright, Sean (Char) Kelley, Arika (Cory) Caves, Beth (Klay) Tesch, Kim Kelley, Jeremy McGreck, Kyle (Tina) Kelley, Karlee Kelley, David Kelley, Amanda Huber, Ryan Huber ,Sara Huber, Laura Liddy, Jeremiah Ressel and Jason Ressel. She also has left behind her great-grandchildren, Jessica Lambright, Christian Lambright, Lily Lambright, Louis Lambright, Emma Lambright, Brianna (Maverick) Kelley, Austin Kelley, Rylan Kelley, Elanna Kelley, Clara Betts, Jo Kelley, Jackson Kelley, Makayla Brill, Katelyn Brill, Dru Ressel, Dhani Ressel, Jeanette Tesch, Mitchell Tesch, Kayleigh Tesch, Klayton Tesch Jr., Nina Kelley, Talia Skelton, Alexander Skelton, Marcus Skelton, Isaiah Kelley ,Jessica Caves, Noah Kelley, Lydia Kelley, and Glenda Kelley, Mckenzie, and Monica.  Many greatgreat-grandchildren also survive Barb. 

Barb is preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Gertrude Hoppe, her aunt Lillian Hoppe, her sister Shirley Reichel, her spouses Sylvnus Kelley and Catherine Kloostra, her daughters Kathy Schultz, Debra Ressel, and Jo Lambright, son in law Michael Schultz, and great granddaughter Mia Kelley.

For the last four years, Barb enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, and watching Dancing with the Stars. She shared a special bond with her grandchildren Beth (Klay) Tesch and Jeremy McGreck as well as her great-grandchildren Kayleigh, Klayton, Dru, Dhani, Jeanette, and Mitchell when they decided to combine their households to spend more time together. 

Visitation will be on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at John J. Buettgen Funeral Home in Schofield at 11 am until 1 pm with services to begin at 1 pm. On line condolences can be made at
