Audrey Ann Berna, passed away peacefully in Hospice care at North Central Health Care, on December 15, 2024, after a long battle of Parkinson's.

She was born in MN on April 23,1939 to Arthur and Esther Kolbeck. On September 26, 1959, Audrey married Gordon Lee Berna and had 2 sons, Douglas and David.

Audrey was a Homemaker and loved to bake. Her family's favorites were her Pumpkin Pie, Apple Kuchen and Brown Bread. Everyone also loved her famous Porcupine Meatballs.

Rarely would you see Audrey without a book in hand. Her love of reading inspired her to open Berna's Book Store in Wausau, which she owned and operated for many years.

Audrey was also head teller at Citizens State Bank and had been employed at Marathon Savings and Loans.

Her real passion, which she enjoyed with Gordy, was Square and Round Dancing. Together they traveled and she was a cuer and taught many, over the years. With her talent of sewing, Audrey designed and made all of their colorful, matching dance clothes. Camping was also a great weekend pastime.

Audrey is survived by her husband Gordon, her sons Douglas (Dwayne), David (Shari) and sister Marian Schneiderwent. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother Jerome Kolbeck.

The family is grateful for their close friends and neighbors and appreciate the entire staff at North Central Health Care Center.

Services will be held on Thursday, December 26, 2024 at Holy Name Catholic Church 1104 S. 9th Ave Wausau. Visitation will be held at 10 am until the time of Mass at 11am.
