Daniel "Dan" Ast, 66 passed away on September 6, 2024, after a 12-year battle with cancer.

Dan was born on May 1, 1958, in Wausau to Corrine and Kenneth Ast.

He married Sue Zastrow on September 29, 1979. They have 3 children together.

Dan retired in 2012 from NTC where he was a custodian. He worked at Graphic Packaging prior to that, as well as Anderson Bros & Johnson.

In his healthier days, Dan enjoyed fishing, and he showed his kids how to fish at an early age. He loved to garden, bird watch, make pickles, camping, and was learning how to make wine. He loved the Green Bay Packers and the Milwaukee Brewers, but most of all his family was the most important thing to him.

He is survived by his wife Sue, children Jennifer (Matt Koehler) Ast, Dan Ast Jr., Christina Ast, Zachary Knutson, grandchildren, Bailey, Peyton, Sage, Willow, sisters Deb (Wayne Dennison) Baptist, Lynn Hanusa (Erick) and his furry friend and companion Urban.

He is preceded in death by his father Kenneth Ast, his mother Corrine Pomeroy and his sister Pam Gorski.

A Celebration of Life will be held at John J. Buettgen Funeral Home, 948 Grand Ave., Schofield, on Saturday, September 21, 2024, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m.
