Gloria Ruth (Erickson) Pfingsten, 92, left her earthly home for heaven on January 20th, 2022 under the care of Aspirus Hospice. Gloria was born January 30, 1929 in Tomahawk to John Adolph & Jennie (Johnson) Erickson. She graduated from Tomahawk High School and rode the train to Wausau to work at Employers Mutual Insurance, retiring after 42 years. While still on the home farm, her brother Phil introduced her to his good friend, Walter Pfingsten. Gloria and Walter were married April 24, 1954 at St. John Lutheran Church in Merrill. They were members of a square dancing and a snowmobile club for years. After 61 years of marriage, Walter preceded her in death in June, 2015. Gloria and Walter raised two sons, Randy & Greg, in Wausau. Gloria enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling, reading, card games, and an occasional trip to a casino. Besides Walter, Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, her mother and father-in-law, Alfred & Esther Pfingsten, her sister, Ella Rapel, and brothers Gordon, James, & Phillip Erickson, and daughter-in-law, Mary Pfingsten. She is survived by her sons, Randy and Greg (Grace) Pfingsten, grandchildren Kaisha (Michael) Nash, Collin (Kiana) Pfingsten and Kiana Pfingsten, step grandson Chad (Kristen) Koerten, great-grandchildren Kinsley & Kaiser Pfingsten and Levi Nash, & step great-grandchildren Tanner & Beckett Koerten. Funeral services will take place at Christ Lutheran Church, 1300 Townline Rd, Wausau, WI on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at 11:00 am with visitation at 10:30 am and entombment at Restlawn Cemetery following the service. Reverend David Wetmore will officiate. John J. Buettgen Funeral Home is assisting the family.
