Born on November 26, 1944 in Shawano, he was the son of the late George F. and Elenore I (Schoenfeld) Ready. Guy served the US Army at Fort Benning, Georgia between 1961 to 1965. On June 2, 1965 he was united in marriage to Sandra Holloway in Georgia. Guy worked at Murray Machinery in Wausau until the facility closed in the mid 80's and then transitioned his part time building business to be his full-time career as Reedy Builders working alongside is son, Chris. They built many homes in the Wausau Metro area including his, his children and grandchildren's homes for over 50 years. When not working he enjoyed traveling across the United States with the family; in the early years staying in quaint motels then later in the motor home. He enjoyed attending his children and grandchildren's band and sporting events.
