Harold Vincent Rye, 93, of Rothschild, WI passed away in the early morning of Monday, February 28, 2022, with family by his side.
Harold was born on February 23, 1929, in Ironwood, Michigan, son of Andrew and Anna (LeGeault) Rye. A 1947 graduate of Ironwood High School, he married Mary Ann Andrina in Ironwood MI on February 16, 1952, while on leave from the U.S. Army. After being honorably discharged he worked at White Pine copper mine before moving to Wausau, WI.
Harold repaired calculators for the Monroe division of Litton Industries, worked for a time at the Mosinee airport, and spent twenty years working at the Rothschild paper mill. In retirement he helped with child care in their home.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Mary; four children: Kenneth (Cheryl) Rye, Kronenwetter; Keith (Bernadette) Rye, Madison; Kevin Rye, Madison; and Renee (Scott) Ristow, Mosinee; one sister, Anna Marie Olson, Ironwood, MI; one daughter-in-law Winnie (Michael) Rye, Des Moines, IA; nine grandchildren: Michael, Jonathan and Shawn Thomas, Attalie and Shaeyla Rye, Mariah Lohff and Tahareh Mohammadian, Cortnee and Casey Ristow; great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Deborah and son-in-law Michael Thomas; his son, Michael Rye; his brothers Elwood and Jim Rye, and his sister, Kjersten Siewert.
He will be remembered as a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and for his great love of kids.
The family would like to thank the staff at Mt View Care Center for the wonderful care they gave Harold over the last two covid-challenged years.
Visitation is at 10 AM followed by a prayer service at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, March 15, 2022, at the John J Buettgen Funeral Home, 948 Grand Ave, Schofield, WI. Online condolences may be expressed at HonorOne.com. Burial will be at Pine Grove Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude or another children's charity of your choice.
