James
Penrose
Feb 14, 1961 — Sep 6, 2026
James Penrose, 65, of Weston, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at home on September 6th, with his wife by his side, after a battle with cancer.
James was born and raised in Wisconsin and graduated from Wittenberg High School. He married his beloved wife, Linda (Foss), in Las Vegas in 1988. They shared a beautiful marriage for 38 years.
James was a hardworking man who valued his family and enjoyed the simple things in life. Early on, he and his wife Linda were self-employed and owned Heartland Chimney and Tree. He then became a heavy equipment operator where he took great pride in this job for almost thirty years. He worked for Meverden Materials Inc., PGA Excavating Inc., and most recently for Worden Enterprises.
Outside of work, James enjoyed camping and especially looked forward to his annual trip to the Crandon Brush Run, a tradition that brought him many good times and memories over the past thirty years. He also took great pride in helping his son, Jesse, with his new business and enjoyed being there to lend a hand and offer his support.
James also loved his dog Roxie, a 3.5 lb. Yorkshire Terrier.
Above all, James loved his family. He was a husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, and his presence will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife, Linda; his children, Brandi Michlig, Jesse (Kiira) Penrose; and step-daughter Sara Diaz; his grandchildren, Sierra Zemke, Jaicee Michlig, Nola Michlig, Leia Michlig, Lucas Michlig; and step-grandson Deangelo Diaz; his father, Harry (Theresa) Penrose; his mother, Julie Kleiber; his parent in-laws Lavern and Barbara Foss; his siblings, John (Jill) Penrose, Justin (Tiare) Penrose, Dawn (Eric) Lang, Denise Penrose-Mohelnitzky, and Darlene Penrose; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
James was preceded in death by his brother, Jason Penrose.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 am on Friday, September 18, 2026, at John J Buettgen Funeral Home, 948 Grand Ave, Schofield. Visitation will take place from 10:00 until the time of services at the funeral home.
John G. Buettgen Funeral Home is managing all arrangements. Family and friends may leave words of remembrance at www.honorone.com.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the team at Compassus Hospice Care. In particular, to Roseann who went above and beyond with her care for James. We greatly appreciate the compassion that you showed during this incredibly difficult time.
