Jana Jirak, passed away on December 4th at her daughter's home in Weston Wisconsin. She was born January 7, 1931 in Dobrichovice, Czechoslovakia and later immigrated to the United States with her family in 1947 at age 16. She married George J Jirak in 1953 in Brookfield Illinois, settling down to raise a family in Brookfield Illinois until 1974 when she moved with her family to Woodruff Wisconsin. She initially had a Bait and Tackle sports shop business in St. Germain Wisconsin and then later starting Jana's Tax Service in Woodruff Wisconsin until retirement. Jana followed her passion for Nature photography throughout her life being involved in multiple Camera clubs and establishing the Lakeland area Camera club. She received multiple awards for her photography and many of her photos were featured in nature magazines Including National Wildlife, Children's books, Wisconsin Trails, and Old Barns. She led multiple photography expeditions including to Isle Royale National Park, Northern Wisconsin, and Alaska. Jana translated and edited multiple of her grandfather's books covering his expeditions and explorations of Africa at the turn of the 19th century. The subsequent English translations were published. Jana is proceeded in death by her parents Ruzena and Victor Nemec and her husband, the love of her life, George J. Jirak. She leaves behind her children George V Jirak (Suzette) and Jane Jirak Gunderson, her grandchildren Michael Gunderson, Jessica Jirak Knight, Brian Gunderson, Jennifer Jirak (Ryan Harrison), James G Jirak (Dayan Wei), special grand daughter Seazon Hanson, great grand children George Gunderson, Ian Gunderson, Leilynd Gunderson, Eddie Gunderson, Jaydan Hanson, and niece Suzanne Eschenbach.
