Obituary

Judith (Judy) Masanz, aged 85, passed away on August 12, 2025, in Wausau, Wisconsin. Born on April 14, 1940, to the late Burton and Luella Weik. She married Marlyn Masanz in October of 1986. Judy spent her entire life in Wausau, where she graduated from Wausau High School in 1958. Throughout her life, she worked as a baker and cook for the Wausau school district while raising her children, later transitioning to a role as an accounts payable processor in a local business. A passionate sports enthusiast, Judy was a devoted fan of the Green Bay Packers, Brewers, and all Badgers sports, often found at the ice rink cheering for her son and grandson during hockey games. She also enjoyed hosting international kayak racers and had a variety of hobbies, including reading, knitting, sewing, baking, camping, and tending to her flower gardens. Family was central to Judy's life; she cherished gatherings for holidays and meals, deriving immense joy from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Marlyn Masanz, daughters Patti Timken and Debbie (Steve) Spiegel of Wausau, son Jeff (Tina) Nickel of Ringle, along with her brother Richard (Linda) Weik of Wausau, and brother-in-law Darrel Nelson of Rib Mountain. Six grandchildren: Matthew (Sarah) Timken of Rib Mountain, Stephanie Timken (Joe Bell) of Seattle, Washington, Holly (Kyle) Holzem of Hatley, Jessica Nickel (Corey Huckbody) of Ringle, Josh (Amber) Spiegel of Stone Lake, Brittany (Erich) Burnett of Rothschild, four Stepchildren; Denny Masanz of Medford, Sue (Kevin) Strebig of Medford, Kevin (Gina) Masanz of Edgerton, Keith (Amy) Masanz of Schofield, five step grandchildren: Derrick (Audrey) Masanz of Milwaukee, Connor Masanz of Madison, Jenna (Joseph) Wieting of Mercer, Kendra Masanz of Milwaukee, and Jake Masanz of La Crosse.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Sandra Nelson, and sister-in-law, Jane Weik. A celebration of her life will take place at Arrow Bar in Weston, Wisconsin, on Saturday, October 11th, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
