**In Loving Memory of Lawrence Frink Abrams**

Lawrence Frink Abrams, age 81, passed away due to cardiac arrest on March 14, 2025, at Marshfield Medical Center-Weston, surrounded by his loving family.

Larry was born on March 1, 1944, in Detroit, Michigan to the late Carl Abrams and Dorothy (Mires) Abrams McIlquham. His early years were spent in Chippewa, Wisconsin where he developed a deep appreciation for the natural world. He went on to earn multiple degrees in science and teaching. His teaching career began in 1966 and included time spent in Livingston, Montana and Winter, Wisconsin before culminating at D.C. Everest High School after a total of 33 years as an educator.

Aside from his passion for teaching English Larry had a deep love for writing and music. He wrote numerous articles and comics, and authored many books such as Throw it Out of Sight, Photography for Writers, and Exploring Wisconsin. He mastered several musical instruments including the violin, harmonica, piano, guitar, clarinet, flute and fife. His vibrant spirit extended to the great outdoors where he delighted in hiking, fishing, hunting, canoeing, sailing and kayaking. Later in life one of his greatest and purest joys was feeding the community of squirrels and wildlife that he fostered in his yard.

He will be fondly remembered for his generous heart and thoughtfulness. He was known for delivering meals to family members and neighbors in need. He used his musical gift to provide comfort to those at area hospitals and nursing homes especially around the holidays. He was a storyteller and loved sharing his life and captivating stories with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Larry's love for his family was evident in everything he did.

Larry is survived by his devoted wife of 24 years, Jane; his child Nathaniel Lawrence (Emily) Abrams of Jefferson, WI; his step children Rob (Carolyn) Genett of Rangeline, WI, Carmy (Fred) Rindfleisch of Marshfield, WI, Christy (Joel) Dietsche of Spencer, WI, and Rorey (Kim) Genett of Pittsville, WI; grandchildren Nolan and Ethan Abrams and step grandchildren Kyle, Karl, Miriah, McKenzie, Parker, Kayden, and Ellie; great-grandchildren Hudson, Jettson, Ava, Tucker, Easton, and Milliana; as well as his sister Carolyn (Howard) Chatterton of Bruce, WI, and brother John (Kay) Abrams of Eagle River, Alaska, and many cherished nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by both his father and mother; as well as his stepfather, Max McIlquham.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 30, 2025, from 1:00 – 2:00 PM at John J. Buettgen Funeral Home, located at 948 Grand Ave, Schofield. Memorial service to follow at 2:00 PM.

Thanks to the medical staff at the Marshfield Medical Center in Weston and a special thanks to the good samaritan who helped guide the way to the hospital on a dark night.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations in Larry's name be made to the Arbor Day Foundation or The Aldo Leopold Foundation.

Larry's spirit will continue to shine brightly through the lives he touched.
