Lila E Bean, age 86, of 2521 10th Street South Wisconsin Rapids, passed away on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at Riverview Hospital. Memorial services will be held at 7:30 pm on Friday August 15, 2014 at Higgins Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the memorial service. Interment will take place at 11 am on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at Northland Memorial Park in Rhinelander, WI. Lila was born August 30, 1927 in Tripoli, WI to the late Lester and Esther (Jersey) Turner. She moved to Rhinelander, WI at an early age, where she grew up and attended school. She married Robert W Bean on March 20, 1948 in Rhinelander. Over the course of her life, she worked as a homemaker, legal secretary, pharmacy bookkeeper, bank secretary, and retail store clerk. After retiring from M&I Bank in 1990 and spending time in Rogers, Arkansas, she returned to Stevens Point where she became a "charter" employee of the Stevens Point Walmart store in the fabric department. She worked another 15 and a half years, retiring at the young age of 80. She enjoyed dancing, quilting, sewing and knitting. She made quilts for all her children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter, many of which had to be repaired many times. Lila is survived by her daughter Lucy (Sam) Runnells of Wisconsin Rapids, son Michael (Dana) Bean of Tulsa, OK, and daughter Linda (Robin) Pace of Rogers, AR; granddaughters Heather (Rob) VanSchoick of Morristown, TN, Jaime (Roger) Sikes of Overland Park, KS; grandsons Arlen "Butch" Kluck of Green Bay, WI, Robert Bean of Victorville, CA, Matthew "Matt" Bean of Fayetteville, AR; great-granddaughter Marleigh Sikes and sister Vivian Becker of Eau Claire, WI. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert, with whom she has now been reunited after 43 years, and two sisters and three brothers. The family would like to thank all the personnel at Riverview Hospital for their care of Lila and compassion for family members during her last days.
