She was born to Arthur and Selma Kittel in Wausau on August 2, 1935, the oldest of seven children. She met the love of her life, Wilbur Baumann at Litzer's Hall in the Town of Hewitt. They loved to square dance at Litzer's and continued to do so until he was drafted by the Army in November 1952. Wib and Marilyn were married on April 6, 1953 before he shipped off to the Korean War. After he returned from duty in 1954, they settled down in the Wausau area where they raised their six children. They owned and operated Baumann's Bar in the 1970s and managed the Deer Run Mobile Park in Merrill for 14 years before moving to Schofield. One of their favorite spots to spend their free time was north of Tomahawk at the Little Rice Resort. They spent a number of summers there, four wheeling, fishing and relaxing. They also enjoyed going to the races at State Park Speedway and a few other local tracks. After Wib's passing in 2014, Marilyn continued her love of racing and could be found at State Park Speedway throughout the summer and fall seasons. Marilyn also continued her love of crocheting and her annual homemade crocheted gifts will continue to comfort her family. Marilyn is survived by her children: Sherry Tietz, Randy (Paul Cybula), Cindy (Judy Schraufnagel), Scott (Amanda) and Sheldon (Tina); grandchildren: Christina (Corey) Sessions, Nick (Michelle) Baumann, Jessica (Eric) Pergolski, Amanda (Steve) Zastrow, Amber (Charlie) Emerson, Sean (Nicole) Baumann, Katrina (Tim) Lownik, Chelsey, Linsey, Kayla and Kendra Baumann and many great grandchildren. She is also survived by siblings Lois Tetzlaff, Jerry Kittel, and Carol Oehlke, sister-in-laws Linda Kittel and Mona Michlig and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 61 years, their son Gordy and his wife Cheryl, and Marilyn's siblings Beverly, Reggie and Tommy. Funeral services will be at 10:30am on January 29, 2022 at John J Buettgen Funeral Home, 948 Grand Ave Schofield, WI. Rev. Lori Slaughter will officiate. Visitation will be at the funeral home Saturday from from 9:00am until the time of service. Thank you to the staff at Our House for the compassion shown to Marilyn over the past few months.
