Obituary for Theodore J Nievinski

Theodore (Ted) J. Nievinski, 81, of Mosinee died Friday December 29th, 2017, at his home in Mosinee, Wisconsin. 

He was born October 25th, 1936, the son of Peter and Frances (Falkowski) Nievinski in Ringle, Wisconsin. He worked on their family’s dairy farm until he pursued a career in the asphalt paving industry. On July 14th, 1956, he married his wife Alice (Pliskie) Nievinski, at St. Ladislaus Church in Bevent, Wisconsin. Ted and Alice were married for 61 years. In 1968 they moved to Mosinee where they raised their family.  

Ted spent numerous years working in the asphalt industry. He was employed by Barcoat Paving company, the FF Mengel Paving company, and he worked 28 years at American Asphalt where he retired in 2001. He was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 139. 

Ted was an extremely active person. He was mainly a morning person who took personal pride in working hard. Besides working in the asphalt industry, Ted logged in the winter months making firewood and pulpwood. During the winter, he also enjoyed jigging for bluegills on the ice. During the summer, he enjoyed working in his remarkable garden where he loved to grow vegetables. He was a very generous giving individual who often gave his produce to others. He especially enjoyed making sauerkraut with his good friends Ray Stankowski and Ron Plath. Ted liked listening to polka music on Sunday mornings and often danced to it. 

Ted is survived by his wife Alice Nievinski; his daughters Paula (Mike) Howie, Carla (Don) Kluz; his sons Peter (Laura) Nievinski, Pat Nievinski, Paul Nievinski, and Perry Nievinski. His grandchildren, Jessica Berent, Allison Kluz, Jenna Nievinski, Teddy Steebes, Clint Nievinski, Brett Nievinski, Claire Nievinski, and his only great grandchild Abby Berent.

He is also survived by his special godchildren Eddie Davidowski Jr. and Gerri (Scholl) Roznos; and sisters-in-law Evelyn Staszak, Delores Knipple, Agnes Pliskie, and Joyce Pliskie. He also had many loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and numerous friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Angeline (August) Zoromski, Agnes (Herby) Benaszeski, Dorothy Nievinski (good friend Edwin Buchkowski), Leona (Edwin) Davidowski. and brother, Leonard Nievinski.

A heartfelt thank you for providing outstanding care from Interim Healthcare Hospice, especially Michelle his nurse and Rachelle who he was very fond of. A special thank you to Father Don Przybylski for the home visits and prayers. 

Visitation will be at 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 4th, 2018 at John J. Buettgen Funeral Home located in Schofield, Wisconsin. There will be a prayer service that evening at 7:00 p.m. performed by sister-in-law Evelyn Staszak.
Visitation will also be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 5th, 2018, at St. Paul’s Church in Mosinee, Wisconsin. John J. Buettgen Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.  

In lieu of flowers the family will be establishing the Ted Nievinski Memorial fund.
