Penny Ann
Duchateau
Nov 1, 1950 — Feb 21, 2025
Penny DuChateau, 74, of Rothschild, WI, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2025, after a five-year courageous battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). She is now at rest in the eternal embrace of Christ Jesus.
Born November 1, 1950, in New Franken, WI, to Raymond and Rita Bournoville, Penny graduated from Green Bay East High School and pursued her passion for social work at UW Green Bay. In 1973, she married the love of her life, Jim DuChateau, embarking on a 51-year journey of unwavering devotion and shared faith. They moved to Wausau, where they built a loving home and family. Penny dedicated ten years to her social work career before focusing her energies entirely on raising her children and serving her community.
A devout woman of faith, Penny was an active member in Catholic Church, serving as Religious Education Coordinator, Eucharistic Minister, and a member of the Parish Pastoral Council. Her life was a testament to her unwavering faith and unconditional love, a love she poured into her family. She and Jim raised their children in a home filled with warmth, faith, and cherished family traditions. Her four grandchildren; Bianca, Leo, Brinley, and Peyton, were the absolute lights of her life, bringing her immeasurable joy until her final days. Even amidst her illness, Penny found time to cheer on her beloved Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers.
Penny is survived by her husband, Jim DuChateau; her children, Elizabeth (Luke) Borchardt, Laura (Nick) Bernett, and Andrew DuChateau; her cherished grandchildren; her siblings, Kathie (Howard) Kaiser and Tom (Monica) Bournoville; and numerous other loving relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Rita Simons; her father, Raymond Bournoville; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 8th, from 9:00 am to 11:30 am, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:30 am at St. Mark's Catholic Church, 602 Military Road, Rothschild, WI 54474. Burial will be at a later date.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses at Compassus hospice care, her caretaker Amanda, and especially to Todd and Lisa Shilts for their support and countless visits during this difficult time.
Though Penny's physical presence is gone, her spirit of love, faith, and devotion will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Her memory will be a cherished blessing.
