Obituary

Ria Moua passed away peacefully at the age of 62 on November 7, 2024, surrounded by his loving family at his home in Birnamwood, WI. He was born in Laos on September 11, 1962. His life was a testament to his unwavering faith in Christianity and his dedication to those he loved.

Ria dedicated his life to honoring his God through acts of generosity and kindness to everyone. At the heart of Ria's life was his family. He found his beloved wife, Youa Thao, after immigrating to the United States from Laos. They married in 1980 and together, they brought nine cherished children into the world: Rocky, Ivan, May, Pang Dee, Butterfly, David, Angel, Asahi, and Ryu. His legacy extended further with thirteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren with one on the way. Many lives have been so profoundly touched by Ria that they too called him "Father". He lovingly took in any in need and treated them as family. He was truly a Father of Hundreds.

He is renowned in the Hmong community for the love and care he gave to their traditions and his people. He was given the honor of being the Kao Cher Pao (KCP) Moua Leader, where he provided guidance as a shining beacon of his principles: kindness, respect, and gratitude.

Ria lived a humble life and worked hard to provide for his family and those he loved. For over 30 years he navigated up the ranks at Ahlstrom Munksjö in the Mosinee Paper Mill learning new talents and forming friendships through his last days. His proudest achievement was in 2023 when he achieved citizenship and will be buried in the land of opportunity he called home.

Ria's faith was central to his life. He cherished his time at Church and the fellowship it brought. His memory will live on in those who knew him as compassionate, forgiving, and loving. His family invites friends and loved ones to a Celebration of Life service at John J. Buettgen Memorial at 900 Old Hwy 51, Mosinee, WI 54455. Services will be held on Saturday, December 14th, and Sunday, December 15th, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., with burial set for Monday, starting at 9:00 a.m.

If he were alive today, the words he would want to share with us all can be found in 1 John 4:7-9. We take comfort that he is with Jesus now, basking in the love of the Lord.
