Richard Joseph
Bong
Oct 27, 1944 — May 10, 2025
Richard "Rick" Bong, age 80, of Mosinee, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Mount View Care Center, with his loving family at his side.
Rick was born on October 27, 1944, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to the late Anton and Juliette (Chabot) Bong. After graduating high school, he proudly served his country in the United States Army.
Known for his quick wit and love of laughter, Rick was a true jokester who brought joy to everyone around him. In his younger years, he enjoyed horseback riding, and later in life, nothing made him feel more alive than riding his Harley and experiencing the freedom of the open road. Above all, Rick was a devoted family man. His warmth, humor, and deep love for his family will be cherished by all who knew him.
Rick is survived by his son, Rick; stepson, Matthew Gauerke; grandchildren, Amanda (Brandon) Schultz, and Porsche, Saxon, and Jackson Bong; sister, Diane Sniegowski; close friend, Big Mike; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved daughter, Jodi Bricco; brother, Anthony Bong; sister, Shirley Marshall; niece, JoAnne Edwards; and nephews, Terry Gorski and Mike Marshall.
A funeral service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at John J. Buettgen Funeral Home-Mosinee Chapel, 900 Old Highway 51, Mosinee, Wisconsin. Father Marion Talaga will officiate. Visitation will take place from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
To celebrate Rick the way he lived — free, bold, and full of heart — we invite everyone to come in casual clothes or their favorite Harley gear. Rick wouldn't have wanted it any other way. Let's honor his memory with love, laughter, and a little leather.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to Diane, Sue Kluz, and Vicki for their love and devoted care of Rick over the past 18 years.
