Ronald A. Cihlar, 72, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2025, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital surrounded by his family.

He was born on April 28, 1953, to the late Arthur and Delores (Writz) Cihlar. Ron later married the love of his life, Nancy Salawater, and together they shared a marriage filled with love, laughter, and countless memories.

Ron worked as a small engine mechanic and had a lifelong passion for tinkering and fixing things. Ron loved taking the moment and jumping on the motorcycle and going for a ride. He especially looked forward to the up north camping and fishing trips that he and Nancy enjoyed so much. He found great joy in helping others and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy; his son, Gregg (Cora) of Mosinee; step-son, Joshua Pingel of Phoenix, Arizona; step-daughters Meredith (Joseph) Pingel-Gerrits of Kimberly, WI, and Fawn (Brian) Benzing of Arlington, WI; brother Jim (Gin) Cihlar of Wausau, WI; sisters, Sharon (Roger) Thorpe of Naples, FL, and Karen (Mike) Wirsbinski of Kronenwetter. He also leaves behind six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and cousins, and his beloved beagle, Vinny.

In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Elizabeth Barttelt; several aunts and uncles; and his cherished dachshund, Woofer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at Our Savior's National Catholic Church, 804 Jackson Street, Mosinee, WI 54455. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Father Marion Talaga will officiate. John J. Buettgen Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

The family would like to thank the nursing staff and doctors in the Aspirus Medical Surgical ICU unit for the tender and loving care that they gave to Ron during his last days.
