Rose Elizabeth Popp

December 29, 1941 - May 3, 2025

Rose E. Popp, 83, of Hatley, WI, passed away peacefully at the family homestead (where she was born and raised and then returned to live later in life) in Hatley, WI. Rose was born to the late Mary and Stanley Lapinski on December 29, 1941 in Hatley, WI. She graduated from Birnamwood High School in 1960.

Rose is survived by her husband, John (Jack) Popp and daughters, Brenda Jozwiak-Boldig (husband - Don) and Colleen Berkhahn (husband - John). She is also survived by grand-daughters Heather (Don) Carter, Rachel (Jason) Cherek and 8 great grandchildren. Rose was preceded in death by her son, Wayne Jozwiak, parents, Mary & Stanley, and siblings: Frank Lapinski, Alice Boyer, Walter Lapinski, Marcella Lapinski, Edward Lapinski and Joseph Lapinski. Rose was blessed to have many special friends, relatives, and neighbors over the years in the area. She truly appreciated those friendships and the kindness of others, especially those in the church community and from her work at Kraft Foods.

Rose loved everything related to being outdoors including gardening & canning with her son-in-law John & daughter Colleen, cutting grass, pulling weeds, and hunting. She especially loved watching the Green Bay Packers, Wisconsin Badgers and in recent years the Hallmark Channel and RFD Channel watching music and old westerns. Rose was active in the church choir community, church activities, and taking care of others whenever a need arose. Rose was always available to lend a helping hand to cook, clean, take care of her daughters' dogs, and could always be counted on. She worked at Marathon Electric early in her career and then worked on the farm after her marriage to the late, John Jozwiak, where she raised her family. After selling the farm, Rose worked at Kraft Foods until her retirement in 1999. She loved to visit with others, talk Polish with people who knew the language, dance to polkas, bake apple pies, and to meet friends for lunch or shopping. Rose lived a full and active life. Rose had special friends including Purita Mader, Deb & Jerry Seim, special family (Rose M Popp, Debbie Schulz) and many wonderful neighbors she visited with. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Aspirus Hospice Service staff for their kindness, compassion, and professionalism over the past 3 months (Haley, Carrie, Will, CNA staff, Nancy- volunteer).

Services will be held at St. Agnes Catholic Church on May 17, 2025, with visitation from 9-11 am and a church service, burial, and luncheon following. Please join the family as we celebrate Rose's life.
